90 Chingford Mount Road - Planning Appeal
The decision by Waltham Forest Planning Committee to refuse consent for the expansion of the mosque at 92 Chingford Mount Road in to the adjoining premises at number 90 has been appealed by the applicants.
The deadline for submitting any comments on the appeal is the 24th of May.
The application was originally refused for three reasons:
· Significant impact on residential amenity due to traffic, noise and activities at unsociable hours
· Iincreased congestion and reduced safety in Chingford Mount Road and surrounding streets;
· Increased demand for parking in an area with little, if any, capacity for additional parking.

WALTHAMSTOW STADIUM DEVELOPMENT — UPDATE
Your Conservative Councillors visited L&Q in April to get an update on their proposals for the development of the former Walthamstow Greyhound Stadium.
Various surveys will be done in the spring, with any hazardous material removed by specialist contractors. The non-listed parts of the site will then be demolished, with development of the first phase along the north side of the site commencing in autumn.
Like you, we are disappointed that the scheme is going ahead, but we’re determined that as it is built out, L&Q keep everybody informed of what is happening. If you have any specific concerns, please do let us know so we can contact L&Q on your behalf.
South Chingford Regeneration Proposals
Your Conservative Councillors have helped secure £170,000 of funding for improvements to Albert Crescent which will see shop-fronts refurbished and the art deco barometer & clock restored to their former 1920’s glory. Also on the cards is a new, more open public space - which could be used for a Farmers’ Market - and improved security measures.
The Christmas tree purchased with Ward Forum funds will be retained and extra trees will be planted which will be lit all year round. All of these new & restored features will compliment the Civilian War Memorial, a Conservative initiative which finally came to fruition last year.
We want to build on our earlier success of 15 minute free parking and hope these improvements will make shopping and doing business at Chingford Mount much more attractive and enjoyable.

90 Chingford Mount Road - planning application for religious use
The application to convert no 90 Chingford Mount Road to religious use and to combine it with the existing mosque at no 92 was refused at planning committee on Wednesday 12 September. The existing premises already cause significant problems of traffic congestion and put a lot of stress on parking in local roads. The committee didn't see much real change between this application and that brought forward earlier and again rejected it.
Dog Track up date
The decision to grant consent for L&Qs scheme at the stadium has still not been referred to the Mayor. The two other applications nearby, for the transport depot on half of the old dog track car park and the housing development at the old Tyco works in Billet Road are also still to be finalised so they can go to Boris.
Now we have a fourth, with the application for a Peugeot dealership on the rest of the old car park having been approved on Wednesday 12 September.
We continue to make the case that the combined effect of these developments will cause significant harm, but in particular, that the Stadium scheme should not go ahead because of the loss of employment and the development being out of character and a substantial over-development of the site.
Iain Duncan Smith is continuing to work with the group which is seeking to buy the stadium and re-open it for greyhound racing.

The Result
At about 11.30 on Thursday evening, the result was declared and I am enormously pleased to have been elected.
The actual result was as follows:
Green 70 Votes
Conservative 1,392 Votes
Liberal 64 Votes
Labour 472 Votes
Lib-Dems 79 Votes
The turn out was 24.38%
This means I won over two thirds of the vote and the Conservative share of the vote went up by almost 9% compared with the last time elections took place here.
I didn't quite match the winning margin Ed Northover achieved in 2009, but after two years during which time the coalition government has had to make some very difficult choices as it sets about restoring the public finances to some sense of order, I am very pleased that the good people of Larkswood supported me in such numbers.
I would particularly like to thank everybody who voted, for whichever party, especially those who came out in the evening in the pouring rain. I am now your councillor and whether you voted for me or not, or whether you voted or not, I am here to help you.
Finally, a big thank you to my agent, Adrian and all the team who worked so hard to help deliver this fantastic result.
